Although it-sa is considered the “Home of IT Security”, solutions for OT security are also in growing demand. Fueled by the NIS2 directive, which imposes mandatory cyber prevention and security measures on even more companies, as well as repeated attacks on supply chains or ransomware attacks, OT security is becoming increasingly important.
Effective cybersecurity strategies encompass all connected devices and systems in addition to traditional IT. And although the threats partly overlap, the requirements of IT and OT are often contrary. Proven measures from IT cannot simply be applied to OT systems. However, modern technologies make it possible to consider both IT and OT requirements.
In the field of industrial security, IKARUS cooperates with Nozomi Networks, one of the global market leaders for OT security technologies. Automatic asset discovery makes the often vast number of devices, systems and protocols in the industrial sector visible. Network monitoring enables the monitoring of communication and – ideally – also of selected network parameters. Artificial intelligence is successfully used to detect anomalies and thus to be able to react to errors, manipulations, and attacks at an early stage.
In addition to traditional manufacturing companies, which have been frequently affected by ransomware attacks in recent years, especially critical and important businesses – from the healthcare industry to IT service providers to smart cities – have a need for future-proof solutions. But also transport and logistics companies are upgrading their security strategies and strengthening their supply chains.
The IKARUS team of experts has accompanied CISOs, IT and OT managers from different industries in the implementation of their OT security journey. “The journey typically starts with the question of who is responsible for industrial security and of reconciling the different priorities of IT and OT professionals“, George Madarasz, Key Account Manager at IKARUS, knows the first challenges that companies have to overcome: “The great advantage for our customers is that we combine both approaches in the IKARUS project teams. We address the specific requirements in cooperation with IT and OT experts. In addition to the appropriate technology and know-how, we also provide insights into how a positive and productive interaction between IT and OT can be created.”
With more than 35 years of experience, IKARUS is one of the “old hands” in the cybersecurity industry and has been growing with the challenges ever since. In addition to its focus on OT security, IKARUS supports companies of all sizes and industries in the areas of email security, advanced threat protection, incident response, mobile device management and individual solutions for malware detection.
