IKARUS anti-malware technology
The IKARUS Malware Scan Engine works with highly developed, particularly powerful scanning technologies to analyse a wide variety of content. The system’s special features include broad support for different operating systems and platforms as well as consistently high detection rates independent of the operating system for which a malware was designed. Another unique advantage is the unchanged detection strength even in offline operation.
Regardless of the modes of transmission and the external appearance of the content, the IKARUS Malware Scan Engine uses various multi-level and modular procedures to analyse the file type and content of a container. It does not only examine the code statically and with the help of heuristic analyses, but also dynamically in self-developed sandbox environments. There, actions, reactions, and accesses of the file are observed and evaluated.
Compressed archives are unpacked for these analyses, whereby the IKARUS Malware Scan Engine, unlike other solutions, can unpack unlimited interleaving to check each file individually. Password-protected files can be decrypted and scanned using password lists.
Files are analysed, extracted, and checked until either malware has been found or all contents––including hidden codes or links––have been checked and the file is classified as “clean”. Via telemetry, code snippets or metadata of suspicious files that require further analysis can be automatically forwarded to the IKARUS Analyses Team for further processing.
All file scans and analysis take place on premises. The IKARUS Malware Scan Engine does not upload any customer data to the cloud. Even without internet connection, the detection performance of the IKARUS Malware Scan Engine remains unchanged strong, making it perfectly suitable for the integration in air-gapped systems.
In international comparison, the IKARUS Malware Scan Engine convinces with its detection performance and speed. Various working modes support a resource-saving mode of operation, while multithreading enables an almost linear increase in performance by increasing the number of parallel threads. Furthermore, the IKARUS technology is designed from the ground up towards stability, resource preservation and scalability. The IKARUS Malware Scan Engine and its OEM versions are continuously being developed. Different integration variants enable use in almost all environments and for all use cases.
