IKARUS anti.virus in the cloud combines local malware protection with central endpoint management. The management of clients, licences, updates and policies, as well as the monitoring of the entire client system, are organised via a web-based backend: Secure and manage any number of notebooks, PCs or servers at any number of locations.
Since June 30, 2021, rolling out updates for IKARUS security.manager is no longer possible, resulting in a decrease in protection performance and compatibility issues. Therefore, IKARUS security.manager will be replaced by IKARUS anti.virus in the cloud.
Delayed or non-confirmed changeover leads to security and compatibility problems. There will be no updates for the IKARUS security.manager, but for included components such as the IKARUS scan.engine. This can cause malware to become undetected by IKARUS security.manager or cause false positives to occur.
Support for IKARUS security.manager has been discontinued as of June 30, 2021.
To meet technical demands on the one hand and usability requirements on the other, IKARUS anti.virus in the cloud was created as a powerful and flexible successor to IKARUS security.manager. Without additional hardware and software, any number of endpoints can be secured, managed and monitored via a web-based management portal at any number of locations. IKARUS anti.virus in the cloud fits perfectly into IKARUS cloud.security: The security solutions for endpoints, mobility, email and web gateways can be controlled via a web interface.
All updates for the clients (IKARUS scan.engine, virus database) can only be obtained via the Internet, on the one hand via our IPs and on the other hand via Cloudflare.
You can request your IKARUS anti.virus in the cloud licence at sales@ikarus.at.
Please submit the serial number of your current ISM key (format: HF1234567). If you do not yet have an IKARUS cloud.security account, please also submit the email address that should be used to create your account.
You will receive your IKARUS anti.virus in the cloud license upon request at sales@ikarus.at. Please provide us with the serial number of your current ISM Key (format: HF1234567) and – if you do not yet have a cloud access with us, an e-mail address with which your account should be created. You will receive your access to the IKARUS anti.virus portal to the e-mail address you have specified.
Uninstall your existing clients using the Remover tool and install the new client version via MSI Installer (in the IKARUS anti.virus portal under Licenses).
With our Group Object Policies guide, the client software changeover is successful even for larger networks.

Your existing ISM licence will be replaced by a new licence for IKARUS anti.virus in the cloud within your valid licence agreement. The runtime and number of endpoints will remain unchanged.
No automatic contract extension will be implemented in the changeover course; this must be explicitly ordered. As a loyal ISM customer, you will receive a price guarantee from us: The next licence renewal is guaranteed at the price of your previous IKARUS security.manager licence, regardless of when the renewal takes place.
To get the ISM serial number displayed, select the menu item “help” in the IKARUS security.manager and then “about IKARUS“.
Simultaneous operation of both systems on one device is not possible, as IKARUS security.manager and IKARUS anti.virus in the cloud require different clients on the end device. A gradual changeover is possible, in which not all clients are administered at once in the IKARUS anti.virus management portal, but the changeover takes place gradually.
Should you not require a management portal and the associated client management, you can also switch to IKARUS anti.virus (client software without cloud management). Nevertheless, the official successor is IKARUS anti.virus in the cloud. Therefore we cannot offer you a price advantage for the remaining term.
If you switch to IKARUS anti.virus, the existing clients must also be uninstalled, and new AV clients installed. As with IKARUS anti.virus in the cloud, you must request a new licence for this changeover at sales@ikarus.at. Please send us the serial number of your current ISM key (format: HF1234567) and add that you want to switch to IKARUS anti.virus (without cloud portal).
Please use only the new web interface at https://cloud.mymailwall.com for administration of IKARUS anti.virus in the cloud.
All data is hosted on our servers in Austria and Germany.
Only the data needed to manage the clients – such as device names, software versions, status, or infections – are transferred to the cloud, but no files are transferred. The scan is carried out via the client software directly on the terminal device.
No. The clients report directly to the backend and are divided into groups in the AV portal.
As the product change is in line with the legal framework and the associated improvements are necessary, we cannot reimburse any compensation for time spent.
Our EULA clause 5.2 legally states that we may exchange products for an equivalent or better product if necessary:
“During the contractual period, we will continuously improve, maintain and update the software delivered to you. In particular, we will ensure that the software will also recognise previously unrecognised viruses and similar malware. We will send the necessary program updates to the address last known to us. In addition, our virus data bank will be available for online updates. Should it be necessary to replace existing software products because of technical developments, you will get the new software from us for new installation.”
The change does not affect the existing contract. Therefore the contractually stipulated notice periods continue to be valid.
The switch from IKARUS security.manager to IKARUS anti.virus in the cloud is entirely free of charge and without surcharge. In addition, long-term ISM customers receive a price guarantee: The next licence renewal is guaranteed at the price of your previous IKARUS security.manager licence.
Due to technical circumstances beyond our control, we are forced to phase out our IKARUS security.management product earlier.
